Testimonials

Courtney C.

When I began training with Taylor, I had a few specific goals in mind. Not only did I accomplish those goals, I learned to do things I never considered myself capable of doing. I’ve added all sorts of new skills and exercises to my regular workout routines, and I’m continuing to see improvements and move up to heavier weights. Of all the personal trainers I’ve ever worked with, Taylor is, by far, the best.

Taylor gives a good amount of emphasis and detail on how to correctly perform the exercise. The result is a very safe and effective exercise experience. As a 70-year- old I greatly appreciate his attention to detail.

Looking to improve your overall fitness and wellness? I'm Taylor, a personal trainer who specializes in functional fitness, corrective exercise, and calisthenics.

In order to help individuals achieve their health and fitness goals, I take a holistic approach to training that goes beyond just lifting weights. Through functional fitness and calisthenics training, my clients and I focus on developing the body's overall movement patterns to improve strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced athlete, I can help you design personalized training programs tailored to your unique needs and goals. I'm looking forward to helping you to achieve optimal fitness and wellness, and enjoy an active and healthy life!

So just what is Functional Fitness training?

Functional fitness is an ideal approach for individuals who want to develop a home workout routine (or a gym routine!) that either requires little or no equipment, or a lot! Your preferences and goals will influence your training methods, but there are many ways to reach any goal.

This type of training focuses on movements that mimic real-life activities, rather than isolating specific muscles. Therefore, while having access to gym equipment may be helpful, it is far from necessary. Individuals can easily incorporate bodyweight exercises into their home workout routine and achieve significant health benefits!

By using bodyweight exercises -- aka "calisthenics" -- in functional fitness training, individuals can improve their strength, flexibility, and coordination, which can translate into better performance in everyday activities. Additionally, functional fitness training can help prevent injury by improving overall body mechanics and reducing strain on the body. Whether you have limited space or budget -- or an entire gym all to yourself --functional fitness can be an effective way to achieve your fitness goals in any setting. Not to mention, the skills you'll learn training in this style will definitely translate towards traditional sports like weightlifting, dance, martial arts, and more!

Curious to know what your first steps in getting started with a coach will look like? Read on!

Our first step will be to conduct an initial consultation to understand your specific needs and goals. During this consultation, you will be asked about your exercise history, any injuries or medical conditions you have, and your fitness goals. This information will provide the basis for a thorough assessment of your movement patterns, strengths, and weaknesses.

Assessing movement patterns is an essential aspect of designing a personalized workout program. This involves evaluating your posture, gait, and joint range of motion to identify any potential limitations or imbalances. Strengths and weaknesses are also important to identify, as this information will inform the creation of a program that focuses on areas that need the most improvement. Strengths will be highlighted to ensure that you continue to progress in areas you excel in, while weaknesses will be addressed through targeted exercises.

Once the assessment is complete, a personalized workout program will be developed just for you. This program will be designed to address any limitations or imbalances found during the assessment, while also taking into account your goals and preferences. The program will typically include a variety of exercises to improve mobility, stability, strength, and flexibility, with a focus on proper form and technique.

The exercises selected for the program will be specific to your needs and may include stretches, foam rolling, resistance training, or other techniques. Any injuries or medical conditions that you may have will be taken into account, and the program will be modified accordingly to avoid exacerbating any existing issues.

It's important to note that a corrective exercise program is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Every client has their unique set of needs, limitations, and goals, and the program should reflect this. The program will be continually reassessed and modified as the client progresses and their needs change.

In addition to the workout program, you will also be provided with guidance on nutrition and lifestyle habits that can support your goals. This may include suggestions for healthy eating habits, sleep, hygiene, and stress management techniques.

Still reading? Clearly, you are interested in improving your quality of life through exercise that is specific to you and your life! So let's take the first step, which is to schedule an initial consultation (which is free of charge, by the way!). All you have to do is either call or text directly at the number listed below, send an email, or fill out and submit the form!
